Progress

It has been a long time since I posted and I have finally taken pictures of all of my work. Here is the completed painting of Jane that I finished before break.
Since I have been back from break I have almost completed my second illustration of Sumner. All I have left to do with it is add some colored pencil and finish the background.I decided to take a break from working on that illustration to start my third piece. Throughout this week I finished my sketch of Pearl.Today in the studio I transferred the sketch onto illustration board and tomorrow i plan to ink it.
I have been spending every day from 11:30 until 5 in the studio because I only have class in the mornings. This has given me lots of time to focus on my illustrations.

Finished ink drawing

Today I finished the ink drawing for my first illustration. It took a lot longer than I expected. I was in the studio on Thursday from 8:30 until 4 and then on Sunday I was in the studio from 3 until 11 working on this drawing along with my resume and abstract. Today I spent 2 more hours in the studio from 4:30 until 6:30 putting the final touches on the drawing. Tomorrow I will go onto color.

This weeks progress

On Wednesday the 12th I went over to Jane's house to interview her and take photographs. I recorded our interview and on Thursday while in the studio from 1 to 4:30 I transcribed the interview. Here are the parts that I found to be most interesting:

"Oh I looked just like I do now, short hair. Um my my hair was always real fine and stringy."

"I was the shortest one in my class and I couldn't get into the girls drum and bugle core because you had to be 5 feet and three inches."

"I was saying, I was 5 feet. I was 93 pounds."

I haven't decided yet if i want to use all three quotes or just choose the one that I think goes best with the illustration.

I also started doing sketchs for my final illustration of Jane. I chose the picture that I found captured her energy the most and started to draw it.

On Saturday I was in the studio all day and finished the first full size draft of my final illustration that I did on newsprint to see how it would end up looking.

I then did a few practice sketches of her face to see what I thought would look the best.

Today, sunday, I was in the studio from 1:30 to 8:30. I purchased illustration board for the piece and then did a final drawing on that board. I will upload a picture of that when I photograph it.
